RICK AND MORTY “Appeared” at Deadmau5’s New Year’s Eve Show

Being a Rick and Morty fan means waiting a long time for more episodes, like how we’re probably not getting season four until late 2019. But some very lucky people not only didn’t have to wait long to see the pair again, they got to ring in 2018 with them after Rick and Morty made an unexpected “appearance” at Deadmau5‘s New Year’s Eve show in California.

In a story we came across at The A.V. Club, the Adult Swim pair popped up in their VR form on the D.J.’s big block video board a few minutes before midnight during his show at the Insomniac Countdown theater in San Bernadino. Rick thought they had arrived at Disneyland, but quickly realized it wasn’t Mickey they had found, but just “some other shithead wearing a mouse helmet.” When a countdown then popped up, the smartest man in the universe thought it was for a bomb he couldn’t diffuse.

This video from the crowd isn’t the best view of them, but you can clearly hear both Rick and Morty’s dialogue. That’s why we know their language is definitely NSFW. (Fast forward to about the 2:00 minute mark if EDM isn’t your thing.)

This might seem like a random place for them to show up, but Deadmau5 did buy one of those promotional gallons of McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce for 15 thousand dollars last year. And that purchase seems to have included a bonus Rick and Morty sketch.

Considering how long we have to wait for new episodes we’d say it was well worth the money.

What other performance should they show up at next? Tell us your squanchiest ideas in the comments below.
