Report: Killer Croc and Steve Trevor the Latest DC Characters Cast for SUICIDE SQUAD

It looks like Harley Quinn isn’t the only Batman villain making her live-action debut in the upcoming Suicide Squad film. Former Lost and Thor: The Dark World star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has just been cast as Killer Croc, the latest DC villain to join the film.

The character of Killer Croc, a reptilian mutant who dwells in Gotham’s sewers, first appeared in Batman #357 way back in 1983, and has been a major part of Batman’s rogue’s gallery ever since. Over the years, Croc has made memorable appearances in the classic Batman: The Animated Series, as well as other subsequent Batman cartoons and video games like Arkham Asylum. However, the character leaned too much into the sci-fi/fantasy category for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, so he was never considered to be used. But in a cinematic universe that has the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman, it would seem no Batman villain would be off the table now. (Clayface and Man-Bat, are you next?!)

Speaking of Wonder Woman, one of that character’s most important supporting cast members has seemingly also joined the film: According to reports, Steve Trevor, the Air Force pilot who discovered Wonder Woman’s island home of Themyscira and was her first (and most well known) love interest, has also joined the cast, played by Scott Eastwood (yup, as in Clint Eastwood’s son). The role is said to be small, but it would be a much bigger part in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, which is set to start filming next year. If you’re wondering just why Wonder Woman’s boyfriend would be in the Suicide Squad movie, in DC’s more recent comics, the character has been portrayed as military liaison to A.R.G.U.S., which is kind of DC’s answer to Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.

Cameras are expected to roll very soon on director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, which already boasts a huge cast including Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and of course Jared Leto as The Joker. Rumors abound that Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor will also appear, but that has yet to be confirmed.
