Jennifer Lawrence hasn’t had a solo action franchise since the finale of The Hunger Games, but she’s set to once again kick some ass in Red Sparrow, an upcoming film that casts her as the ultimate Russian superspy. It’s hard not to see some of Marvel’s Black Widow in the latest trailer for Red Sparrow, as the loyalties of Lawrence’s character are seemingly split between her handlers and a CIA operative who could offer her a way out of the espionage game.

Lawrence’s character in this film is Dominika Egorova, a former ballerina who trained to near peak physical perfection. The trailer is essentially her origin story on fast forward, as we witness the way that she was lured into the service of her government to become a Sparrow, through a harsh regime that was designed to strip away her old identity and transform her into an unfeeling killer.

Joel Edgerton is co-starring in the film as Nathaniel Nash, an American spy targeted by Dominka and her handlers. Although Dominka was sent to seduce and destroy Nash, he’s the only who may be able to get her to switch sides. That said, the trailer seems to cast her allegiances in doubt and there may not be anyone who is willing to trust this Sparrow, so she’ll have to find her own way to survive.

Red Sparrow will be unleashed in theaters on March 2.
