REBOOT: THE GUARDIAN CODE First Trailer Has a POWER RANGERS Vibe

A mere 17 years ago, the beloved CGI animated series, ReBoot left fans with a particularly nasty cliffhanger, as the villainous Megabyte seized control and threatened to hunt down the show’s heroes. Next month, ReBoot is finally getting a followup series in the form of ReBoot: The Guardian Code. And while Megabyte is back, there’s no sign of fan favorites Bob, Dot Matrix, Enzo, or Frisket. Instead, the spotlight is falling upon four human teenagers who make their way into cyberspace as the next generation of guardians.

This is definitely a different take on ReBoot that looks like it may have more in common with Power Rangers and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest than the original series. And it looks like the show will spend some significant time in the real world as Austin, Parker, Trey, and Tamra are recruited by V.E.R.A (Virtual Evolutionary Recombinant Avatar) to be the new guardians and protect the world from cyber attacks. It also looks like V.E.R.A. will have a body in the real world as she follows the new kids home.

Supposedly, we will see most of the original ReBoot characters again at some point in this series, but they are no longer the stars of the show. We’re more curious about their fate than anything else. However, as this is an official continuation, we expect that more elements from the first series will probably show up along the way.

Netflix will premiere ReBoot: The Guardian Code on March 30.
