Where are my cartoon birds and animal companions and why aren’t they circling my head and advising me on this ridiculous infatuation I seem to have acquired for fake people? Disney has long been accused of Photoshopping and creating standards of beauty for young women that are quite simply completely impossible. It’s heartening to know that the princes our childhood idols were supposed to have ended up with in the stories were just as unattainably beautiful as their ladies.
Artist Jirka Väätäinen told Cosmopolitan.com that he was inspired to start creating his life-like Disney series rather out of the blue in 2011. He just wanted to figure out what Ursula, the villain from The Little Mermaid, would look like in real life. Thus began his portfolio. So far it includes eleven life-like princesses from the films, one super villain, and now Väätäinen is back with eight more pieces of art to make all of us young women who grew up thinking Disney would be sending us a prince at some point (spoiler – they didn’t) swoon.
Väätäinen creates each of his pieces with by combining real photographs with some Photoshop skills before he finishes the work with some digital painting. They are downright dreamy. I hope he continues this collection so that each of his eleven princesses from before have life-like princes to go with them. Right now, we’re coming up just a wee bit short. Who would you like to see him do next? Maybe it’s time for some life like animal companions or a whole series of villains? Tell me in the comments below!
