REAL FAKE HISTORY Enlists with the Roughnecks of STARSHIP TROOPERS

As portrayed in director Paul Verhoeven’s film, Starship Troopers, the war between humanity and the Arachnids was a largely one-sided conflict in favor of the giant space bugs. But perhaps there’s a reason why Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) and the Roughnecks suffered defeat after defeat.

Real Fake History’s latest episode tackles Verhoeven’s 1997 adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein’s classic sci-fi novel. In particular, this episode focuses on the disaster on Klendathu that was such a huge clusterf***, even Rico was briefly thought to be among the dead! Interstellar history expert Preston Berry (Tom DeTrinis) points an accusatory finger at the Roughneck’s co-ed showers for keeping their minds off of their training.

Ryan Garcia (Tapped Out) co-stars in this episode as a member of Rico’s unit who keeps getting distracted by his shower buddies, as voiced by Brooke Seguin (The Real Housewives of Horror) and Tara Perry (Fresh Beat Band of Spies). The Guild’s Jeff Lewis also makes a cameo appearance as Dr. Alex Schultz.

Tony Janning (The Legend of Neil) wrote and directed the latest episode of Real Fake History, with Phil Morris (Seinfeld, Smallville) as the narrator. The next episode of Real Fake History will throw the spotlight on The Battle of New York from The Avengers. Later episodes of the season will feature The Walking Dead, Pacific Rim, Starcraft 2, and The Dark Knight Rises.

Movie fans, do you agree with Real Fake History’s theory about the downfall of the Roughnecks? Are co-ed showers worth fighting a nearly unwinnable war with an implacable army of interstellar bugs? Would you like to know more? Leave us a comment below!
