RARE REPLAY’s Intro Cinematic Is Wacky in All the Right Ways

We’re currently in the midst of the infamous video game summer drought, where the huge titles are scarce and far and few between. Though, I’d argue that the slow release rate has offered an opportunity to put a dent into your ever-growing backlog. With all that being said, Microsoft is only a couple of weeks away from starting what is being touted as the greatest holiday lineup in Xbox history.

It’s hard to argue that point when both Rise of The Tomb Raider and Halo 5 headline the bevy of upcoming behemoths. Before those see the light of day, Rare Replay will be the first title to launch from the impressive list of upcoming games slated to hit the Xbox One. This title will celebrate 30 years of success on August 4th. It will feature 30 titles for $30 in one neat little package.

Rare and Microsoft decided to start the festivities early by revealing the opening cinematic that will greet players when they boot up the exclusive. The intro video is all sorts of wacky, and highlights all the awesome faces you’ll be able to revisit. The musical number is fun, light, and full of humor. It will surely set a great tone to the whole experience. All the humor of the intro will be needed, especially if you plan on tackling the notoriously rage inducing Battletoads.

Lucky attendees of the Rare Panel at San Diego Comic-Con had the pleasure of watching this ahead of everyone, but why should the world be deprived of such an awesome clip. I’m glad everyone can now watch this prior to the release. It should get Rare fans excited.

I also had the chance to talk to Craig Duncan, head of the studio, about their upcoming projects, and he was both extremely excited and optimistic for the team’s ongoing projects. Definitely check out our coverage of the fantastic panel for more on Rare Replay and Sea of Thieves. Battle your way onto the comments section below to let us know which of the 30 games included in the package you are most excited about. Personally, I am stoked for Viva Piñata.
