Remember the good old days, when you jammed out to Nelly? “It’s getting’ hot in here, so take off all your clothes/ I am getting so hot, I wanna take my clothes off… ” Come on, you can admit that you shook your booty to that track at least once.
Well, the St. Louis rapper has come back to drown us in nostalgia (admit that you’re happy about that too), performing his number-one hit from Nellyville, “Hot in Herre,” and “Ride wit Me” off his debut album, Country Grammar, for The Boombox’s ‘Off the Record’ series.
The trademark Band-Aid on his face might have disappeared, but there’s still gold hanging from his neck; yep, this is the Nelly we know and love. And joined on stage by a band, he sure does look grown up. So, hold on to your heart as you travel back to yesteryear with these smooth, cheeky tunes.
Nice bit of nostalgia, am I right?
Nelly is currently writing and recording his next album, which as he told Entertainment Tonight, will be “along the lines of expanding what I like to say is hip-hop after hours. Hip-hop is always going to be for the youth by the youth, but now itâs getting older. You have more people that are a little older but are still hip-hop fans.â
He’s also busy with his own reality show, Nellyville, which airs on the Black Entertainment Network and is currently in season two.
