Rachel McAdams Confirms She’s Joining DOCTOR STRANGE

Well the Rachel McAdamsDoctor Strange rumor can finally be put to rest, because the actress has now confirmed she will be joining the film adaptation of the Marvel comic book.

Reports this summer said that Marvel had offered her a lead role starring opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, and at the Toronto Film Festival she told The Wrap that she had accepted. It is unknown which role McAdams will play at this time, but she and Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) will be joined by Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo, Doctor Strange’s longtime nemesis).

Could McAdams be playing the role of Clea, Doctor Strange’s love interest? There have been whispers that Rosario Dawson is going to play Night Nurse. Mads Mikkelsen has also been rumored to be joining the film as another villain (could he be playing Dormammu? Or maybe Nightmare?). Either way we hope that like the wonderful Rachel McAdams casting news, the Dawson and Mikkelsen rumors also come to fruition. That would be one hell of a cast.

True Detective season 2 may not have been received quite as well as the first, but Rachel McAdams was fantastic in it, like she is in everything, so this news is definitely exciting.

Doctor Strange is about “a brilliant but arrogant surgeon [who] gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against evil.” Make sure you check out all of our coverage on Doctor Strange, slated for a November, 2016 release and directed by Scott Derrickson (Deliver Us From Evil).
