Quicksilver Runs for Love in New X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Ad

I don’t know about you lot, but I’m incredibly excited for X-Men: Apocalypse. I’ve been getting ready by watching the old ’90s cartoon (and writing about it in X-Men Reanimated–maybe you’ve heard of it?!?!) and when we get closer to the May 27 release date I’m going to re-watch both X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. I particularly adored the latter, and one of the big reasons was that memorable “Time in a Bottle” sequence starring Evan Peters as Quicksilver running around while the world is in slow motion.

We’re going to be getting more of that in Apocalypse, but you don’t need to wait until Memorial Day to see the Son of Magneto run around and mess with people, not if you live in the UK and have a TV. Peters, along with several of his X-Men cohorts, appear in a new commercial (shared by Comic Book Resources) for Sky Fibre high speed internet service and he runs around the X Mansion trying to impress an English girl who suffers from slow connection speeds (the devil you say!). He causes Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) to fire a quick optic blast which he makes ricochet around the whole room, where he moves Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp) out of the way so they don’t get zapped. All of this is scored to Redbone’s “Come and Get Your Love,” which opened another Marvel property movie: Guardians of the Galaxy.

I know this is just a commercial, but it sort of gives the game away a bit. Obviously this takes place after Apocalypse–or in a parallel universe–because Storm is hanging out in the lounge with everybody, and she’s clearly one of the Four Horsemen in the movie. Oh well, it’s not like we didn’t know she was going to end up a good guy, huh?

But for serious, wouldn’t you like Quicksilver to try to run faster than internet? That’s a race I’d watch a million times a day.

Get excited for X-Men: Apocalypse with our recap of the latest trailer!
