Premiere: Gallant’s R&B Cover of the Foo Fighter’s ‘Learn To Fly’ Is Dreamy

Do you hear those angelic coos? Do you feel them propelling you forward toward the stratosphere, the sun polishing your cheeks with a newfound glow? You can thank Los Angeles based songwriter, Gallant, for this near religious experience as you listen to his surprisingly sexy cover of the Foo Fighters’ “Learn To Fly”.

An astral R&B rendition full of clipped falsetto and pitch shifted vocal phrases, this version of “Learn To Fly” is far from a usual cover of a Foo Fighters’ track, and you’ll have a hard time imagining Dave Grohl cosplaying as average people on an airplane while listening. When those world-beat drums begin thundering, maybe you’ll think of Dave Grohl cosplaying as a sexy belly dancer in some seedy bar. I am definitely not. Why are you looking at me like that?

Gallant’s cover is a tonal 180 from the 1999 song–you can compare by checking out the original music video below. Wonder if Jack Black and Kyle would enjoy this, or if Gallant will ever emergency-land a plane for an MTV music video. Keeping my fingers crossed for the latter.
