Premiere: Dr. Dog’s Video For ‘Badvertise’ is a Trippy ’80s Infomercial

In September, Dr. Dog partnered with the Pig Iron Theatre Company put on “Swamp Is On”, a “DIY concept-concert with shades of the X-Files,” which included new music from the band and “Pig Iron performers and designers [assembling] a unique ‘handmade’ live video feed that provides visual translations of Dr. Dog’s songs and soundscapes.”

The band appears to have saved some of that weirdness for their latest visual, which is premiering today on Nerdist. Check out the band’s new music video for “Badvertise” above.

In the clip, the band tries to sell tin cans, ceramic rabbits, and we’re not sure what else. The video looks like an ’80s informercial converted from a broken VHS tape that was recovered from one of Michel Gondry’s nightmares.

The band previously shared the song a few days ago and gave some background on it, saying it was recorded during the process of creating “Swamp Is On”, and that it is also one of the songs from the show. This makes it somewhat unclear if “Badvertise” is part of an upcoming studio album from Dr. Dog or not, although the band did release a live album, Live at the Flamingo Hotel, earlier this year.

Dr. Dog also announced a string of more live dates to kick off the new year, so have a look at their tour schedule below.
