Postmodern Jukebox Delivers ’40s Rendition of “Hotline Bling”

“Hi, yes, is this a one, Mr. Drake? This is the switchboard operator from the Toronto telephony company… Yes, I have a Ms. “Girl” on the line, and she says she needs your love… Yes, I do believe that can only mean one thing.”

Okay, so booty calls may not have been as seamless in the 1940s as they are in today’s fast-paced iWorld, but the music was still good enough to make you consistently flip your wig. Postmodern Jukebox’s cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” stands as evidence of that, taking the hyper viral hit and making it into something that all the guys and gals can really shake their stompers to.

The vintage ’40s take on Drake’s track—which itself is up to about 515 million views on the ol’ tube—can be found on Postmodern Jukebox’s Youtube channel, and features self-proclaimed “jazz pervert” Cristina Gotti as the lead singer. Gotti is accompanied by Scott Bradlee (piano), Jacob Scesney (clarinet), Lemar Guillary (trombone), Adam Kubota (bass), Aaron McLendon (drums), and a couple of Ducky shincrackers, Natalie Rose White and Musetta Rubin.
