A couple weeks ago, reports surfaced about a recent update to Pokémon Go, suggesting that the addition of the move Transform to the game’s code meant that Ditto, one of the few first-generation Pokémon not catchable in the game, would finally make his debut. Now, according to a bunch of players posting about it online (via Kotaku), it looks like Ditto can finally be caught in the game… even if it isn’t that obvious.
As it appears now, you won’t see a Ditto avatar in the game’s overworld, but the way you catch one is uniquely Ditto. Encounter any given Pokémon, and after you catch it, it’ll transform into a Ditto, with no prior warning. During gym battles, Ditto will also reportedly transform into the opponent and change its CP to a similar level.
Seemingly any Pokemon can now transform into Ditto. In battle, it is adopting the species/moves of the foe – and boosting to similar CP!

It’d be easy to dismiss this as a fake if it weren’t for the fact that the news is being reported by a bunch of different users all at once, and the screenshots (as well as the video above) do look pretty convincing:
DITTO HAS BEEN CAPTURED IN-GAME.

Ditto’s unpredictable in-game appearance is a fun way to encourage players to try and catch everything they come across, and now there’s even more motivation to do so: as of today, the amount of Stardust and XP earned between now and the 30th will be doubled. So get out there and be thankful!
