DC Entertainment has launched its first-ever Digital First Vertigo series, and it’s none other than Fables: The Wolf Among Us. After Telltale Games’ excellent episodic adventure series released to an overwhelmingly positive response from critics and fans alike, it makes sense that DC would go ahead and make this series available for fans.
Fables: The Wolf Among Us follows the same storyline as the game and follows Bigby Wolf, the big bad sheriff of Fabletown, as he investigates a string of murders that grow ever close to his friends and those dear to him. However, this is a new chapter in the same world as the games, and features familiar characters like Snow White, Mister Toad, the Woodsman, and an additional cast of Fables that didn’t get screen time in the game.
The issue is available with three digital chapters, and each subsequent installment will contain the same amount of content. The next issue is releasing January 14, 2015, so you’ve got a decent amount of time to wait– if you’re a speed reader– for the next one to drop.
““In true FABLES style, we’ve taken the story you know, added all sorts of pieces you had no idea about, and shaken the contents violently just before handing it to you to open, right in your face. It has been an honor to be part of Vertigo’s debut Digital First series,” said co-writer Dave Justus, who penned the issue along with Matthew Sturges (Jack of Fables.)
