Perpetual Slinky Machine is Delightfully Pointless

Matthias Wandel‘s description for the video above is as follows: “Building the slinky escalator for never ending Slinky stair traversal.” Sound pointless? It is, but in the best way.

Some of us see a Slinky going down the stairs and think “that’s cool I guess.” Wandel sees a Slinky and thinks “do you what would be cool? A Slinky stairway that never ends.” Hey, good for him. You did it pal.

Crafted entirely from wood and a few screws, the perpetual Slinky machine can be run both by drill and by hand. Whatever. It’s a Slinky machine. The hand cranking method did offer a lot more control however, allowing Wandel to record 140 Slinky steps in a row! Can you believe it!?

140? But it was right there!
