Pepsi Celebrates BACK TO THE FUTURE with Limited Edition ‘Pepsi Perfect’ Bottles

When Marty McFly traveled to the year 2015 in Back to the Future: Part II, he stopped in at an ’80s diner and ordered a Pepsi. What he received was a product known as Pepsi Perfect. Served in a Weizen-shaped bottle, the soft drink was one of the staples that sold the film’s futuristic setting, and now we will be able to experience it for ourselves. Pepsi Co. is planning to release a limited edition run of Pepsi Perfect bottles on Back To The Future Day (October 21, 2015) in celebration of the original film’s thirtieth anniversary.

Pepsi released the above advertisement on YouTube, and the senior director of marketing for the company, Lou Arbetter, spoke to USA Today about the release as well. “Fans have always been a little crazy about it, and so we wanted to take advantage of the fact that Marty travelled to the future, to this month, and wanted to actually come out with the product,” Arbetter said.

Of course, there is a catch. The Pepsi Perfect will only be a limited edition bottle holding your standard Pepsi Cola, and they will cost $20.15 each — which is only slightly more expensive than movie theater pricing. The company also plans to only release 6,500 of these bottles, so they really do mean “limited edition.” They plan to have their first unveiling of the product at New York Comic Con this week, handing out the first 1,500 bottles to Con attendees dressed as Marty McFly. So if you weren’t sure what to cosplay as this year, the decision just got a whole lot easier. There are currently no details on where the actual bottles will be available to purchase, but we recommend lurking outside of ’80s throwback diners just to be on the safe side.

Are you willing to drop a little over $20 for this limited edition bottle? Let us know in the comments below.
