Paul Feig Tweets First ECTO-1 Images from Upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS

AHHHH!

Paul Feig just tweeted the first images of ECTO-1 from his upcoming lady-helmed Ghostbusters! In some ways, this makes the whole thing even more epic and real for me than all of the previously released images from the set. The ECTO-1 is one of the more iconic and recognizable symbols from the original films, and now there’s a new hearse ambulance ghost-mobile in town!

Keeping with the original color scheme, white and red are the two primary colors of the vehicle, and an array of sirens and lights can be seen atop the roof. Also of note is the ladder on the side of the chassis which leads one to believe there may be extra equipment storage on the roof, or maybe, MAYBE, the ladder provides access to some kind of exterior super-proton weapon! It’s probably for storage, but one can dream! Feig wasn’t done showing off the new asset, either! He gave us a look at the rear loading door as well!

Jokingly, Feig replied to a tweet asking about color options with the following:

Fun fact about the original ECTO-1 from the ’84 and ’89 films: the car was a 1959 Miller-Meteor Cadillac Commercial vehicle which came in both ambulance and hearse variants. The ambulance had windows in the rear, the hearse did not. The new Ecto-1 seems to be a straight-up repurposed hearse, which, c’mon, is exactly the kind of car you want to be driving when you’re hunting down ghosts!

Written by Feig and Katie Dippold, Ghostbusters starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon cannot get here soon enough!
