P.T. Meets CRIMSON PEAK in This Spot-On Mashup

For a game that we know will never see the light of day, Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s Silent Hills continues to surface in video game news a great deal. P.T. left a striking imprint on the gaming world, and the “what could’ve been” and “what should’ve been” conversations don’t appear to be stopping anytime soon. Hell, it was only a week ago that del Toro himself sounded off on the cancellation, exclaiming that it “makes no f*cking sense.” You know what? We totally agree with you, GdT.

For those who, like me, are hanging on desperately to the memory of P.T., it may be a good idea to turn your interest towards Guillermo del Toro’s latest project, Crimson Peak. The movie just released last weekend, and though it has been described by many as a gothic romance film, there’s a great deal of aesthetic resemblance between the two. Could it be that directing this movie was del Toro’s outlet for dealing with the cancellation of Silent Hills? Looking at the movie and P.T. mashed together, you’d certainly think so.

The video above takes the two separate properties and blends them together seamlessly. I wouldn’t go as far as calling Crimson Peak a spiritual successor to P.T., but the visual similarities between the two are undeniable. Especially at 1:54 in the video, where you’ll see two nearly identical door shutting sequences from both the game and the film. Gah… if only the door wasn’t closed on Silent Hills. If anything, this is a pretty cool look at just how stylistically in sync Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima–who directed P.T.— really were.

Do you see the similarities between P.T. and Crimson Peak? How much would you pay to Kickstart a spiritual successor to Silent Hills? Let us know in the comments below.
