Own Your Very Own Pure Gold and Silver Ninja Throwing Stars

What good is throwing your money away if you can’t quite literally throw it away? Thanks to a Japanese crowd-funding site, you can now order your very own ninja throwing stars in pure gold or silver.

The Japanese Ninja Council – which the internet assures us is actually a real thing – recently announced that you can purchase the precious metal shuriken in honor of the upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics. Measuring about three and a half inches across (9 centimeters) these stars are, in fact, actual weapons for sale. And how does one get around the sale of a weapon in a country where weapons are so highly regulated? Why, you make use of a loophole, silly! The Ninja Council (again, totally real) is able to sell these shuriken as long as they are classified as “art.”

Let’s talk drawbacks in your quest to become the fanciest of ninjas who ever fancied: The gold one, other than being a rather soft metal and therefore a terrible weapon, will set you back 770,000Â¥. Converted, that’s a whopping $6,768.93 USD, so it’d be best to reserve that only for your most affluent sneak attacks. The silver one on the other hand is priced at 150,000Â¥ ($1,318.48 USD) and thank goodness for the more manageable price for your inevitable run-ins with Japanese werewolves. They have those there, right? Or is it all just a bunch of Inuyashas running around there?

Spending that sort of money for such an expensive projectile may be a bit unrealistic especially when you can – and this is news to us – apparently just buy 50 gram bars of gold for considerably cheaper and throw them just the same like some sort of insane internet prospector.  On the other hand, ninja weapons are pretty cool and really – what’s the worst that could happen?

You can check them out here but with only a handful of each being made, we may just have to go with our gold bar option.

What extravagant weapon of old would you like to see made? Diamond encrusted nunchaku? Platinum kusarigama? Let us know in the comments below!
