Long-distance relationships are hard. Especially when the “distance” you’re talking about is approximately two centuries. But such is the plight that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will have to contend with in the upcoming third season of Outlander, which sees the latter tossed 200 years into the future, back from whence she came, to the 1940s, while Jamie is stuck by his lonesome in 1700s Scotland. Though newly without one another, both parties have plenty going on in this new chapter of their lives. Claire’s got her old friends, family, and first marriage to keep her busy, while Jamie’s got the Battle of Culloden on his schedule. As they say, it’s best to keep occupied when dealing with a split, so good on both of ’em!
This new trailer for Outlander‘s third season, which premieres on Starz in September of 2017, really cuts to the core of how tough this new set of challenges is going to be for Jamie and Claire alike. Yes, she’s got a fulfilling job, loving parents, birthday festivities, and indoor plumbing, whereas he’s stuck with battlefields and a laundry list of personal grievances, but don’t for a second think that this transition is going to be easy on her, either!
Check out the trailer, and let us know what you’re most excited to see in Outlander season three. We’ve got the books for guidance, but we wonder what new elements the show will bring to the story. Share your thoughts!
