ORPHAN BLACK’s Tatiana Maslany is Heading Off-Broadway with a Neil LaBute Premiere

Looks like the Clone Club’s going to be flocking to New York City en masse next summer, because Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany is heading to Off-Broadway. And not just any play will do: oh no, no! The actress will star in the premiere of Neil LaBute’s latest, The Way We Get By, alongside one of the playwrights regular collaborators, The Newsroom‘s Thomas Sadoski.

Maslany is set to play “Beth” opposite Sadoski’s “Doug”. In true to LaBute fashion (read: aggressive, vitriolic, and sure to be divisive), these two knuckleheads fall into each other’s arms (in a sexual way!) at a wedding, only to wake up and encounter a seriously awkward morning after. Guess that’s what happens when two libidinous characters collide! Having seen Sadoski in LaBute’s Reasons to Be Pretty, it feels safe to assume there will be a lot of emotion, and fighting, and yelling, and sexy business. Oh, and a lot of selfish narcissism — there’s usually a lot of that in there, too.

This is the first New York theater venture for Maslany, whose impressive work on Orphan Black has made her a critical darling and fan obsession. Her ability to truly embody and breath life into the characters she’s portraying is largely unrivaled in its excellence, despite what Emmy voters may have led you all to believe (cough cough).

Previews for The Way We Get By are set to kick off on May 12, 2015 at the Second Stage Theater. And while the show itself doesn’t have an official opening date set in stone yet, it is slated to run for a limited time only — through June 28, 2015.

So: who’s heading to New York to see this? Raise your hands in the comments.
