Orlando Bloom Returns for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES

After ten years at sea, Will Turner is coming back to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise! During Disney’s epic movie panel at the D23 Expo, it was announced that Orlando Bloom will reprise his role as Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth movie in the franchise.

Bloom appeared alongside Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow and Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann in the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. At the end of At World’s End, Will was forced to assume command of the Flying Dutchman and serve a ten year exile from dry land and leave behind his new wife, Elizabeth. In the post-credits scene, Will returned a decade later to meet Elisabeth and their son. By the time that the next Pirates movie comes out, it will actually have been ten years since Bloom appeared as Will!

Depp made a surprise appearance at D23, and he came in character as Jack Sparrow. He threw grapes into the crowd and pretended to not know what Disneyland was. Naturally, the crowd loved it.

Dead Men Tell No Tales is being helmed by Kon-Tiki directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning, This time, Jack will find himself facing Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) and his crew of ghost pirates while desperately searching for Neptune’s Trident, which is the only thing that might save Jack and every other living pirate on the high seas.

Geoffrey Rush will once again appear as Jack’s rival, Captain Barbosa, with The Maze Runner‘s Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth and Maleficent‘s Brenton Thwaites as Henry.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will set sail in theaters on July 7, 2017.
