Now It’s Official: FINAL FANTASY XV Release Details and 2 New Trailers

–UPDATE–

Square Enix has gone and made things official! Final Fantasy XV will release on September 30 for the Xbox One and PS4. The PC, unfortunately, will not be getting any Square Enix love as of now, though game director Hajime Tabata has gone on record saying that he’s aware of the demand for a PC version. But enough with the details from the far future, let’s talk about what we did get to see tonight, like that crazy ass story trailer (viewable above).

I’m pretty sure the same thing that stuck out to me, stuck out to you– that huge giant humanoid creature. Obviously Tabata is a big Attack on Titan fan, right? Aside from that, this game looks oh so gorgeous. I’d call it a playable Advent Children based off what they’re showing here.

There were a slew of unveilings at tonight’s Uncovered livestream event, including Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, a feature film starring actors from Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad; Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV, a 5-part anime prequel series; a deluxe edition, and an ultimate collector’s edition. You can take a gander at the special edition games for yourself right below.

Last but not least, we have the speculated playable teaser, which Square has dubbed the Platinum Demo, is live on PS4 and Xbox One right now. Man it’s a great day to be a Final Fantasy fan! Be sure to stay tuned here on Nerdist for more on this game leading up to its release.

Looks like we’ll be kicking off our holiday games season with a bang! The folks at GameSpot accidentally leaked a video (now set to private) that revealed the release date for Final Fantasy XV, which we now know is scheduled to hit store shelves on…September 30.

We were originally suppose to receive this information at tonight’s Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event, along with this following video showing off Young Fresh Noctis, which was also leaked this morning:

From the looks of the footage, the next playable bit from Final Fantasy XV will put players in control of Young Noctis in a wacky dream sequence accompanied by a Carbuncle. Quite the change of pace from his older self hanging with his future bros.

GameSpot also spilled the beans on this Young Noctis dream sequence being a playable demo that’s set to release shortly after tonight’s event, so you’ll be able to experience all of this for yourself sooner rather than later. Lastly, there was also some sweet Yoshitaka Amano artwork that was released this morning in another leak:

I’m definitely loving this September release window, as I’d hate for this game to release in late October/early November with most of the other heavy hitting AAA titles. Also, kudos to Gematsu for calling this a few weeks earlier.

We’ll be standing by for the rest of the Final Fantasy XV announcements from tonight’s event, so make sure to stay tuned!
