NYCC: TOMORROWLAND Drops First Teaser Trailer

Tomorrowland doesn’t hit theaters until May 22, 2015, and the teaser trailer has us wondering if we will be able to wait that long to see what looks to be a gorgeous film from Walt Disney Studios. Here’s the first trailer, released in conjunction with New York Comic Con this morning:

From the brilliant minds of director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Iron Giant), screenwriter Damon Lindelof and co-writer/executive producer Jeff “Doc” Jensen, the story that seems to be closely woven with the futuristic ride in theme parks is shaping up to be something incredible. Lindelof told Entertainment Weekly: “What Hogwarts is to magic, Tomorrowland is to science: They are both easy to find if you are a wizard and very difficult to find if you’re a Muggle. Walt Disney is not a character in our movie, but he is referenced as having some involvement in this mysterious place called Tomorrowland, as a huge futurist and aficionado of space travel, rocketry, cities of the future, and space travel.”

The story centers on Casey Newton (Britt Robertson), a young woman watching promise of advancement and scientific discovery wither from her own home. When she comes to possess a pin with the amazing power to take her to Tomorrowland, it changes her own outlook and gives her a renewed sense of hope for the future. It also brings her into contact with reclusive inventor Frank Walker (George Clooney) and all the secrets he’s keeping about the mysterious place she’s now aware exists.

Much of the film is still shrouded in mystery, but we can already tell it will be beautifully futuristic from the trailer alone. We can’t wait to see more!
