No Debate: Mondo’s BATMAN V SUPERMAN Posters Are Great

Look, we all know that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is eliciting some very strong opinions from moviegoers, but no matter how you feel about the film, that doesn’t mean we can’t all appreciate a great poster honoring the big screen battle between the two most iconic superheroes of all-time, especially when the art is pretty damn awesome.

Mondo released a poster from artist Ken Taylor that depicts Batman standing in front of the giant, defaced Superman statue, as the fire begins to rage from below Batman. (None of that is a spoiler, as the statue with the graffiti was shown in the trailers).

Here’s what Taylor had to say about the inspiration behind it:

“Creating this poster was an exciting but daunting task. Instead of presenting a traditional sort of battle or fight scene, I decided to show the potential uneven nature of a fight between a man and a virtual ‘god.’ Utilizing the the giant sculpture of Superman seen in the film towering over a defiant Batman seemed the most natural way to communicate this idea.”

It certainly does have a sort of Michelangelo’s David statue vibe, with the underdog standing ready for the fight to come.

He also created a variant, with a gray color scheme and Batman garbed in his armored suit, much more prepared for his fight with the Kryptonian (as the movie was very fond of saying).

Now here’s the bad news: they already sold out. All 375 copies of the original and all 200 copies of the variant are already long gone and listed as archived and no longer for sale. A quick look at eBay shows plenty already there though, so you can still grab them, just for more than their original 50 and 75 dollar prices.

Hey Ken, how about one with Wonder Woman next?

What other characters from the film would you like to see his take on next? Tell us–do you share your thoughts in the comments below? You will.
