This brand new World War Z poster offers the most compelling reason yet against air travel. Haven’t people in movies learned that helicopters always crash? C’mon, guys, it’s pretty much a rule. That first trailer was a tantalizing treat, but if you’re hungry for more than just brains, stay tuned to Nerdist this week because there’s a new trailer coming out on Monday. Also, I spent Friday morning at Paramount, where director Marc Forster and Brad Pitt treated us to some advance footage for the zombie epic, so if you can survive the apocalypse of anticipation, you’ll be duly rewarded.

I was really looking forward to a new kind of zombie movie; one that wasn’t all about the action sequences and the gore. I imagined it would be a style like ‘District 9’ and ‘The Fourth Kind’; an interview style movie. Unfortunately, so far it looks like every other zombie movie.
The book did such a good job at reflecting on the ways we, as a society, would react in realistic ways. It had reactions from all points of views. I find myself not even looking forward to this movie anymore

I’d actually check this out. I wasn’t a big fan of the book, but this looks like it might be entertaining.
The two are not even tangentially related (book and movie). This production serves to do NOTHING but create another popcorn zombie flick while obliterating the possibility of a Film adaptation of Max Brooks’ stellar zombie novel.
When I learned that “World War Z” was becoming a movie, I followed the developments with eager anticipation. Then I read Max Brooks walked away from the movie because the studio changed the script into just another zombie fest. We’ll see what actually hits the screen.
And to those who cry that the scene depicted on the poster doesn’t happen in the book…it doesn’t matter. If you go with the change to a fast-moving zombie swarm, this type of thing could definitely be a possibility within the established universe.
People get so hung up on every last detail being “true” to the source material, when all that really matters is that it is true to the heart of the story. So what that, in the comics, Peter Parker didn’t shoot webs from his anatomy like in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. It still made sense and did not change the heart of the story or character.
I don’t know. This poster looks pretty cool. I have read the book and it was great: a zombie apocalypse story told in a different way, as a series of survivor accounts that add up to paint a portrait of the 10+ year zombie war and mankind’s eventual “victory”. Maybe they could have done the movie in an Amores Perros/Babel style with different scenes/characters telling separate accounts, but I feel that would be hard to do properly as a standard-length movie.
Granted, this movie looks to eschew that style, however Brad Pitt is an actor that has earned my respect by not taking conventional roles and usually choosing interesting projects. I typically will be interested in any movie that he does. Because of this, and the fact that he is the star/producer and had a large hand in getting this movie made, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
And personally, even though the book’s zombies are the typical slow-moving variety we’re used to, I thought the fast zombie hordes was a pretty interesting change. Maybe it’s less likely, but we’ll have to see the movie for the reasons.

I’m fairly sure that Brad Pitt dies in the book in the bunker of rich aholes and this is his revenge for that.
Wow, I guess the studio is very out of touch with their fan base or their audience at large. For months the scenes of zombies running in a horde from the trailers have turned off almost everybody at how stupid the concept is, how silly it looks, etc. and THAT’S the part of the film they’re drawing attention to on the poster?? It’s like they’ve been meticulously planing the failure of this film from the beginning. I can only imagine Max Brooks is cringing at every step of this movie.
If this was any other zombie movie, I’d say, awesome poster! However its name is World War Z….sorry but this doesn’t happen in the book. It seems like they’ve gone to great lengths to not follow the source material. I mean okay you want to make a cool zombie movie with swarms of zombies climbing over one another and doing stuff, but that’s not WWZ.
While the movie may be great it doesn’t look like its going to have what made the book great.
I’m a huge fan of the book & from what I initially heard, was super disappointed by the movie. But, I had a friend who went to a test screening of it who said it was amazing & actually sets the movie up for a sequel that should be more true to the book then this movie.
Not looking forward to this at all. I LOVED the book. Anyone can do a zombie story. It was the wonderful style–a series of interviews, after the fact, showing the different experiences and points of view of those lucky enough to survive. We’ve all heard enough about this movie to know that this isn’t what we’ll see. It’ll be just another zombie flick. I hope they prove me wrong–I really do–but I’m not holding my breath.
The gap between the book and what this movie is turning out to be really depresses me.
Darn fans always trying to tip my vehicles over. This is why Brad Pitt doesn’t do autographs anymore! The poster portrays what the movie is about in a misleading way that some might not know it’s a zombie movie if they haven’t seen the trailer or read the book.
I haven’t read the book yet, so I can’t comment on translation but from what I read it’s not good. So that’s why I won’t read the book till after and enjoy a zombie apoc movie of people trying to survive.
