Aca-scuse yourselves Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fans, because Anna Camp is joining the Netflix hit for season two, and in this new clip released from the streaming service we see that she’s a female who isn’t only strong as hell, but also capable of going toe to toe with the one and only Jacqueline Voorhees (and her designer handbag made entirely of internet cats).
Camp, who is most well-known for her roles in True Blood, Mad Men, and, of course, the Pitch Perfect films, will be playing an Ivy League-educated New York housewife deliciously dubbed Deirdre Robespierre. In the above clip, we see her verbally sparring with Voorhees (Jane Krakowski), who says that she doesn’t know if Deirdre is trying to help her or destroy her. Unfortunately, Deirdre says she doesn’t really know either, and is just trying to figure out what to do with all of her wasted mental energy since she’s not doing anything with her degree in political science from Princeton.
In terms of season two in general, it will reportedly pick up shortly after the trial that ended season one, with the indefatigably upbeat Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) on the job search, her roommate Titus (Tituss Burgess) dealing with a visit from his ex-wife, and Jacqueline “rediscovering her roots.” And, along with Camp, tons of other new talent will be making appearances in season two, including Girls star Zosia Mamet, Fred Armisen, Jeff Goldblum, David Cross, and the show’s co-creator, Tina Fey.
If you haven’t seen the full trailer for season two, you can check it out here. Or, you can just grab a glass of Pinot Noir and wait a few more days, as the entire 13 episode season is set to debut on Friday, April 15 on Netflix.
And also make sure to aca-comment in the aca-section below! We know you have thoughts about that handbag made entirely of internet cats.
