The Transformers have already entered the mobile gaming world with Transformers: Earth Wars, but next year, the giant robots from Cybertron have an even bigger title coming!
According to Variety, Kabam has set a new Transformers massive multiplayer mobile game for a 2017 release. The game will let fans use classic characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron as the war between the Autobots and Decepticons plays out once again. The game doesn’t currently have a final title, but it will be a free-to-play app on mobile devices that will feature RPG elements and strategy game play.
The report indicates that Kabam’s new Transformers title is separate from the feature film franchise established by Michael Bay at Paramount Pictures and from the various Transformers TV series. However, Kabam’s Kent Wakeford said, âWeâve created a multiyear plan to tie into all those big cultural beats.”
Kabam is best known for producing Marvel Contest of Champions, one of the most popular mobile games currently on the market. Kabam is also working on a mobile game based on James Cameron‘s Avatar films.
There isn’t currently a firm release date for Kabam’s Transformers title, but it is expected to launch some time during the second quarter of 2017. And while this particular title won’t embrace the AR of Pokémon Go, future Transformers mobile games may go in that direction.
