New THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY Stills & Interviews Help You Prepare for the Upcoming Rebellion

Katniss Everdeen was the focus of the first two movies in The Hunger Games series, but that’s changing for the last two films. The books by Suzanne Collins are told from Katniss’ perspective, and though we got an inside look that went beyond her narrative, the story was ultimately about her. The Hunger Games – Mockingjay – Part 1 is still centered on Katniss, but the scope is broader. It’s about the fight for Panem, and Katniss isn’t standing alone in an arena. She’s surrounded by rebels in District 13 and people fighting back in Districts around the nation. In other words, it takes a village to kick President Snow and his precious white roses out of the Capitol.

New promotion stills and interviews from The Hunger Games Exclusive put the emphasis on Katniss and her allies. The digital magazine features talks with Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Liam Hemsworth (Gale), Natalie Dormer (Cressida), and more. This is where I would like to take a moment and pause to recognize that Dormer’s Cressida looks like a freaking badass. It had to be said. And she’s in good company with Katniss and President Coin (Julianne Moore). When asked about being a part of such an incredible group of female leaders, Dormer said:

“It’s just fantastic. The beauty of this film is the gender equality and really, that’s Western life. Of course, all movies should reflect that. How wonderful that the biggest franchise in American cinema at the moment does have these wonderful strong female leads? It’s long overdue.”

Sing it, sister.

She goes on to describe Cressida’s role as the director of the pro-rebellion propaganda ads and gives a little insight about why Cressida left Capitol life. It’s worth checking out as are the rest of the interviews and stills. See the pictures of Katniss and her allies in the photo gallery below:
