New SUICIDE SQUAD Extended Cut Trailer Shows a New Side to the Harley Quinn-Joker Relationship

Ever since Suicide Squad hit theaters in August, we’ve known that quite a bit of footage featuring the Joker and Harley Quinn didn’t make the final cut. But now that the Suicide Squad Extended Cut is on the way, we may see more ofJoker and Harley’s extremely dysfunctional relationship.

Warner Bros. has released the first full trailer for the Suicide Squad Extended Cut, which includes a number of notable deleted scenes. One in particular sees Margot Robbie’s Harley confronting the Joker (Jared Leto) at gunpoint before he challenges her to “…do it.” It’s also notable that Harley appears to still be in original form as Dr. Harleen Quinzel in that clip.

You may have noticed that the theatrical movie gave Joker and Harley the closest thing to a two-sided romance that they’ve ever had. Apparently, this was something that came out of the editing process, as director David Ayer filmed several scenes that added a much darker side to the popular duo’s relationship. For instance, the Joker supposedly tried to murder Harley almost immediately after her helicopter escape. Another scene would have included the return of a badly burned Joker for the film’s climatic battle against the Enchantress. We expect that at least some of that footage will be back in the film, but the rest of it may remain on the cutting room floor.

Fans who don’t want to wait for a physical copy can grab the Suicide Squad Extended Cut on digital HD starting on November 15. But if you want a DVD or a Blu-ray then you’ll have to wait until December 13.
