New STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Behind-the-Scenes Photos

As if you had to be reminded, the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is as close as close can be, and that means more stories about the franchise will be cropping up. Case in point: WIRED recently posted a new interview with J.J. Abrams talking about the film, and the story revealed some behind the scenes photos that have not been seen before.

Most of the images show Abrams, the crew, and cast members like Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, as they filmed scenes in the Abu Dhabi desert. The only other photo that doesn’t show how many people or practical props were in the desert during filming is a close up look at a weathered R2-D2.

While most fans are looking to find as much as they can about the film’s plot and its mysteries, it is refreshing to also get a look at the hard work required to bring the film to life. To continue the Star Wars franchise would be a daunting task for any director, and Abrams speaks on that fact in his interview, but these photos show that this movie is made like any other. While J.J.’s name is the one most closely associated to it, every person that had to endure that desert heat was essential to the film’s existence. I will always be one who applauds the grips and gaffers as much as the director and actors, and these photos are a welcome reminder that no film is made by one man.

Check out the rest of the photos in the gallery below, and let us know how hard waiting for this film is in the comments below.
