New Potential Details on Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s GAME OF THRONES Role

[Insert your favorite “winter is coming” joke-y lede line here.] Yes, Game of Thrones fans, as we inch ever-closer to the fifth season premiere, more details are coming to light regarding the series’ newest characters, additions, and deviations. And now we’re hearing word about Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s character from the HBO series, and apparently Lost‘s Mr. Eko is going to bridge a few parts of The Known Realm together. Read on if ye are not scared of spoilers, my friends!

And we’re super-serious about that spoiler business, folks.

Fan site Watchers on the Wall is reporting that Akinnuoya-Agbaje’s Malko will actually connect the worlds of the Lannisters and the Targaryens all the more (and beyond their general dislike of one another).

Malko, a non-book character, does have some ties to a major scene in the books. Akinnouye-Agbaje will allegedly play a major role in bringing Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen together (as we saw in earlier photos). Working on Essos, Malko will reportedly run a slave auction that involves — and here comes the major book-related business — auctioning off both Ser Jorah Mormont and Tyrion.

Fans of the book know this scene does not come out of thin air. In the A Song of Ice and Fire series, Jorah has captured Tyrion in hopes to get back into Dany’s good graces… only to later be sold into slavery before being able to do so (though they do meet up with Daenerys later on). More and more it sounds as though this may be a scene that happens towards the end of the season as a sort of cliffhanger-y mega-moment (given that, cough, fiery business we reported on earlier this summer) in Daznak’s pit.

Who cares about the god damn books? They r two different entities. Stop whining about it

  2. Hallin says:

Wow, this scene does come out of thin air, that auction happens after Daenerys isnt even in the city….she flew away on Drogon by that point.

    • Nick says:

No it did not. The auction took place before the wedding. Ben Plum had hoped to buy Tyrion as a wedding present. And Drogon appeared in the fighting pits after Tyrion’s folly. The opening of the fighting outs happened after the wedding. This just means they are giving the slaver a larger role and likely totally cutting the Young Griff story line.

      • Adrian says:

They cant cut the young Griff story line, it leads to a full arc on its own. I hope they dont cut that, it would be like ripping a large thread out of a tapestry.

meh, i disagree.  none of the aegon stuff is any good and really it reads like he came up with it as an afterthought to mess with all the people that figured out R = L = J
that, along with a bunch of other stuff, should have been cut from the book.

      • Since there are always 3 Targareyans, Young Aegon, Dany and *** -Cough-*** John Snow ***-Cough-*** will have to all meet up at some point in the story.
