New INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE Video Welcomes Tourists to Las Vegas’ Ruins

During the events of Independence Day, aliens invaded the Earth and decimated several major cities around the world. Las Vegas was one of the cities that was destroyed during the fourth wave of the invasion, and apparently it was never rebuilt in the ensuing 20 years. However, a little thing like widespread cataclysmic destruction is never gonna stop Vegas from cashing in!

A new viral video for Independence Day: Resurgence features the “Las Vegas Ruins Tourism Board” shamelessly embracing the city’s status as a monument to the War of 1996 while enticing gamblers to return to the place once known as Sin City. The video starts off with a minor inaccuracy, however: despite the title of ID4, the actual invasion began on July 2, 1996, not July 4th.

It’s pretty hilarious to see the tourists using the classic Vegas slot machines with coins in the open air, especially if you know how freakin’ hot it gets in Las Vegas. If you’ve never been there, trust us: you don’t want to be outside for an extended period! We have to admit, firing weapons that were upgraded with alien technology looks like a lot of fun, and it’s understandable why the aliens are still widely hated 20 years later. Killing off half the planet tends to piss off the survivors.

Although the ancillary websites for this film indicated that an alien cell managed to survive in the Congo a full decade after the war ended. And some of those aliens may even be responsible for getting the invaders to return this summer for some payback.

Independence Day: Resurgence will be released this Friday, June 24. What did you think about this latest video? Put it all on black and share your thoughts in the comment section below!
