New Images for THE TIME OF THE DOCTOR

We saw mere seconds of it at the tail end of “The Day of the Doctor,” but this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, “The Time of the Doctor,” and the end of the trilogy of “____ of the Doctor” titles that make up Matt Smith’s swan song, now has this epic, harrowing, and yet still Christmassy, poster from our friends at the BBC. It depicts the Eleventh Doctor in a particularly Yule Tide get-up and a justifiably anxious-looking Clara Oswald as they’re set upon by Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, and the Silence – pretty much all the best/worst bad guys the Doctor ever faced in his Eleventh (or Twelfth, but let’s not split hairs) incarnation. We also have a few new promotional images from the episode, although, aside from a shot of Smith holding a Cyber head in the TARDIS, they tell us precious little about what’s actually happening.

The brief but tantalizing synopsis for the episode is as follows:

“Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.”

Oooooooooooooh! “The Time of the Doctor” will air on BBC America on December 25th, a/k/a Christmas Day, at 9/8c. It promises to be exciting, dramatic, sad, and hopeful all at the same time. How on Earth do you think they’ll manage that?

As per usual, let us know what you think in the comments section located a few inches southward.

Is the wig really obvious, or is it just me?

Did anyone else notice that the “Time’s Up” image says “…FINAL Life.”? (emphasis mine). That must mean that Matt Smith is actually the 13th Doctor. Apparently the Time Lord Metacrisis Doctor IS an actually generation. Or there was a doctor before William Hartnell’s (the Other?).

I really really hope that Clara stays around for Peter Capaldi. She has without a doubt been my favourite companion.

I love Doctor Who, but since I don’t have cable I guess I’m relegated to waiting for the DVD release to watch the new stuff -_-

Why is this stuck in the mobile theme?

Didn’t they kind of already use all of his enemies teaming up against him at the end of season 5 when the Pandorica was opened? No offense to Matt Smith, he was great, but i’m really looking forward to Peter Capaldi taking over.
