New HARRY POTTER Quiz Matches You with Your Patronus

New HARRY POTTER Quiz Matches You with Your Patronus

What does a Patronus look like?
Each one is unique to the wizard who conjures it.

The Patronus Charm, one of the most difficult spells to cast (a full-bodied one at least), but also one of the most powerful, is the greatest weapon a wizard has when facing down Dementors. And though we all like to say we’ve got a little wizard in us, there is no way for us Muggles to know what kind of animal our own Patronus would take the form of. Until now, that is.

Because Pottermore, the official site dedicated to the magical world of J.K. Rowling and all things Harry Potter, has (finally!) released a quiz that will tell you exactly what your very own one looks like. This is the kind of news that will probably make you happy enough to use the memory in the future to cast your Patronus.

The multiple choice question quiz, which is quite stunning visually, starts with you naming a happy memory, and then asks you to instinctively answer questions. It takes the “Do not think too hard—feel!” rule to heart, skipping a question if you fail to answer within a few seconds. It also has you choose various paths as you travel through a forest. (Is it the Forbidden Forest outside of Hogwarts or the one where Harry saw what turned out to be Snape’s Lily-inspired silvery doe in The Deathly Hallows? Our guess is the latter.)

If you’ve ever been sorted into your Hogwarts house on Pottermore this is a similar kind of test, though this one is even harder to try to finagle the outcome you want (which I totally, definitely didn’t do… and fail anyway). But this one looks even better, and is honestly more fun.

Finally, at the end of the quiz, you get to wave your mouse to discover what creature your Patronus takes the form of. (Note: Wear headphones while you do this. It enhances the whole thing with some wonderful, magical music.)

You have to be a member of the site to take the quiz, but according Rowling, who took it herself, it is a success.

In case you can’t tell, Rowling said that hers is a heron, although when she first took the test “ages ago” during development she ended up with a pine marten Patronus. Even that is appropriate, because life events can change a person’s Patronus (example: Tonks).

For a story that was finished years ago, the world of Harry Potter continues to give us ways to enjoy and immersive ourselves in it further. So are we really about to spend more time learning how we might have fit in to an imaginary world?

“Always.”

Okay, tell us what you animal you got when you took the quiz. Did you conjure an otter? A rabbit? A stag? We expecto you to tell us about your very own unique Patronus in the comments below.
