How about we meet in Toronto for drinks? It doesnât matter how we get there, whether by broom, enchanted car, the Floo Network, maybe a Port Key, letâs just all agree to meet at The Lockhart, the newly opened Harry Potter–inspired bar.
Named for the dashing but fraudulent former Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, this new bar is designed to appeal to both devoted Potter fans and unaware Muggles alike.
Speaking to NowToronto.com, co-owner Paris Xerx said, “Without knowing any of the Harry Potter stuff, you already will think of this as a cool bar. You’d come here and see the stag’s head on the wall and go ‘Wow, I love that’, but a Harry Potter fan might say ‘That’s a Patronus.'” The restaurant also has a heart-shaped, neon sign with the final words from the books in the center, âAll is well.â
You can order a âShackleboltâ currently, but they say they are still working on how to serve a non-copyright-infringing âButterbeer.â They say they have one item that is such an obscure Harry Potter reference that you get one for free if you catch it. (Good thing Iâve been practicing my Legilimency.)
The Lockhart does serve some pretty great looking food, but for any worried S.P.E.W. members it does not appear that it is prepared by any enslaved elves. You can follow the bar on Twitter, at the handle @TheLockhartTO.
Whatâs your best suggestion for a Harry Potter-inspired dish or beverage? Tell us in the comments below and maybe theyâll make the menu.
