New Descriptions of ARROW/FLASH Spinoff Team Revealed

News from a couple of weeks ago that the CW and DC Comics would be developing what is essentially a team-up spinoff of its hit Arrow and The Flash series still has our minds reeling, especially because it’s already set to feature Brandon Routh’s Atom, Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold, Victor Garber’s Dr. Martin Stein, and Caity Lotz’s…well we’re still not entirely sure how that one’s going to play out considering her current, uhh, status on Arrow. Either way, holy cow, what a great lineup that’s already got.

Well, that’s not the end of the characters news by a long shot. In a new report, TV Line has learned the descriptions of three new mystery characters for the as-yet unnamed series, and some theories have developed as to who they might be.

First up is The Traveler, a “Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.” TV Line is pretty sure it’s Rip Hunter, but it could also be Booster Gold. I think of these two Hunter is probably the much safer bet, but Booster Gold does have a much sweeter costume.

Second is a Female Warrior, a bookish and shy Latina who nevertheless can become a fierce warrior when she “hearts the cry of battle” and her “fury is ignited.” Those are some evocative words there. TV Line thinks she is probably a composite of Fury, the Amazonian heroine, and Yolanda Montez, Ted “Wildcat” Grant’s goddaughter. I, personally, have no idea.

Finally, the inquisitively-named Mystery Hero who is described as “An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.” TV Line and I are in agreement that is probably going to be Virgil Hawkins, a.k.a. Static. Could also be Black Lightning or Black Vulcan but let’s hope it’s neither of those because of their ridiculously old-timey naming conventions.

Obviously, we’ll keep you in the know about who these characters actually are once they get officially revealed. And, you know, when a title for this show gets announced.

Who do you think these descriptions could mean? Let us know below!

the inquisitively named hero would be the Question, I think. A new version, but nevertheless the Question

  2. Richard says:

The Traveler could be anyone of the legion of superheroes (Braniac  Live Wire or Star Boy) , the warrior, big barda or one of amazons (artemis, harbinger or even donna troy) the mystery hero, Mr, Terrific or even Static Shock

  3. Mike says:

Black Vulcan, he’s got pure electricity in his pants.  And do you think that name was his idea?  Hell no, he used to go by Super Volt. Black Vulcan was Aquaman’s idea.  Then he said, “Why don’t we just call you White Fish?!?”

  4. ericmci says:

when she “hearts the cry of battle”Hearts is huh?Do emojis pop out of her?

  5. Chris says:

    Terry McGinnis, Vixen, Static

  6. Atte T says:

I want Booster Gold, is that too much to ask 😀 Sounds good.

  7. Emlyn says:

Old fashioned naming conventions are easy enough to get around. Don’t want to call him Black Lightning? How about just calling him Lightning? Think Black Vulcan is outdated? Just call him Vulcan… or Tuvok.

  8. Kit Walker says:

Can’t help but notice that both Beatriz “Fire” De Costa and Will “Amazing Man” Everett were name checked in the same episode of The Flash and would fit two of these descriptions…

  9. Xero says:

Booster Gold, Batteling Barta, and Mr. Terrific

  10. Vern says:

Bea DaCosta was name-checked on Flash already, could be her, and Static would be cool.
Also, old fashioned naming convention or not – Black Lightning is a badass name… (Black Vulcan is stupid, though…)

  11. larry says:

John Stewart let get some green lanterns in the universe

  12. Nathan says:

    STATIC STATIC STATIC!

  13. Ben says:

Crossing my fingers for Static… After growing up with the Static Shock cartoon, I’d love to see him back on a screen, especially in live action.

  14. Jeremy. says:

Static would be nice to see live action

  15. Alex says:

“Fury is ‘ignited?'” I’m thinking Beatriz DaCosta, AKA Green Flame AKA Fire!

    • Kit Walker says:

You know what Fire’s original codename was, in her very first appearance? Green Fury.
