This past Tuesday, Marvel released its first trailer for Captain America: Civil War and the internet went insane with glee. Not to be outdone, Warner Brothers will be showing new footage from its OWN “superhero fights superhero” film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, this coming Monday during the fall finale of Gotham.
Fox released this promo with Gotham’s cast, weighing in on who THEY think would win between DC’s “World’s Finest.”
If you decide to not wait for the footage to show up on YouTube and need a recap of what’s been happening on Gotham, here is a quick rundown: Since it will be years before Batman actually shows up, they have decided to give the audience literally EVERYTHING else. From the Order of Saint Dumas to eventually Doctor Hugo Strange, Gotham has become Easter Egg City for fans of the Dark Knight.
It will be interesting to see what Warner Brothers does to make their movie stand out. Civil War is ALSO about heroes being at odds with one another, but has the advantage of almost a decade of continuity and fan support. It’s one thing to be invested THAT they’re fighting, but it’s just as important to be invested in WHY they’re fighting.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 26, 2016. Gotham’s fall finale will air on Fox.
So what do you think? Will Monday’s footage get you more excited for Batman v Superman? Or has Marvel already taken your soul for their own? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
