Neil deGrasse Tyson Chats with Us About the First Science Talk Show!

Our personal astrophysicist and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson is bringing his immensely popular podcast and radio show Star Talk to the National Geographic Channel later this April and we couldn’t be more excited. It feels like COSMOS ended years ago and science shows like MythBusters could definitely use some company on today’s television lineup.

To find out about his new show, I chatted with Dr. Tyson at a press event for National Geographic. We spoke about the format of the show, why it’s important to take science out of the classroom, and whether or not COSMOS is coming back anytime soon. Enjoy!

I’d just like to bring attention to StarGazing Live. A UK show presented by Prof Brian Cox and Dara O’Briain. It runs for a week once a year and is very much a Science talk show. Not a Science news show.
The UK also has The Sky At Night, which was a monthly science show which sometimes had guests to talk about the science. The show has been running since 1967 making it the longest running TV show with the same presenter in history.

Little known fact about the Irish comedian, his university background was mathematics and theoretical physics. Very smart man.
