NEIGHBORS 2 Cast Talks Generation Gaps, Gender Roles, and Terrifying Clowns

For thousands of college students across the United States, fraternities and sororities are a part of academic life. But did you know that according to the rules of the Greek system, sororities aren’t allowed to throw parties in their houses? That bit of, “Wait, really?” information is the basis for Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, the follow up to the 2014 comedy hit starring Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Zac Efron.

A group of college gals (Chloë Grace Moretz, Beanie Feldstein, and Kiersey Clemons) decide they’ve had enough of the patriarchy. With newly displaced party bro Teddy (Efron) by their sides, the girls declare themselves the founding members of the Kappa Nu sorority. However, their affections for their honorary brother from Delta Psi are short lived, and Efron’s Teddy finds himself crossing over to Team Old People to oust the sisters from their unruly reign once and for all.

For all the ridiculous gags and outrageous comedy to be found in Neighbors 2, the movie does make a good point: why, in 2016, should girls be treated any differently than the boys? Nerdist talked to director Nick Stoller and the star-studded cast about the premise of the film, reteaming after the success of the first, and what made Moretz, Feldstein, and Clemons the perfect additions to the cast for the sequel. We also get to the bottom of Ike Barinholtz’s hilarious and horrifying clown scene that’s given us all nightmares since the first trailer hit the web.

Neighbors 2, starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Chloë Grace Moretz, Beanie Feldstein, Kiersey Clemons, and Ike Barinholtz, and directed by Nick Stoller, is in theaters now!
