NBC Reviving HEROES In 2015

NBC is bringing Heroes back to television in a 13-episode miniseries, Heroes: Reborn. The announcement came during the network’s coverage of the Winter Olympics, when it aired this 15 second promo:

Creator Tim Kring will be back at the helm once again, though Reborn will feature a new batch of characters this time around. NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke claims that even though there’ll a brand new cast, the network “won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.” The back story and a proper introduction to the characters of Heroes: Reborn will come via a digital series preceding the television series’ launch.

The news has prompted both excitement from fans and derision from non-fans who populated Twitter with mock #NBCReboots including several Pink Lady and Jeff and Manimal variations. In which camp are you? Let us know in the comments below.

magnifique heroes de retour . merci merci merciiiiiiiiiiiiii vivement 2015

  2. Todd says:

Definitely excited! After the first season, a lot of the mystery was revealed (who was HRG? What was the company? What was Sylar’s motivation) and the show suffered. Yes the writer’s strike had a lot to do with it. I believe that a reboot could definitely do some good. And with a finite time frame, it wouldn’t have the same burn out that Heroes, LOST & other “serialized dramas” had.

  3. larry bowman says:

hopefully we wont have a writers strike to screw this one up im excited

  4. TypoFirebird says:

I’d want to see Micah again! He was definitely one of the great things going on in the comics running parallel to the show and he had one of the neater powers as a technopath.

  5. Myhre says:

    Because no one demanded it…

Heroes is back. With more new characters no one cares about, just like the second season!

  6. NeuroMan42 says:

After the painfully bad two and a half final seasons who is gonna watch the new train-wreck?!?

  7. Tolly says:

The only reason the show got bad was because of the involvement of the stupid execs, key creative team departures, and the writers strike. If they had kept the original showrunner throughout, it would have kept the same level of quality it had in the first season.

  8. The first season was without a doubt the best. It slowly deteriorated after. The new promo looks like it could be a revival but the story and the heroes need to be fully developed and authentic throughout the season.

  9. perc2100 says:

Dunno how I feel. The show was pretty awful after they sort of ripped of WATCHMEN the first season (which was an OK season). On the other hand, it’s definitely a cool concept on its own, and with new characters + new stories there is potential for interesting TV.
On the other hand, even Marvel has stumbled with their SHIELD TV show, and if Marvel can’t produce a good, compelling show with its stable of characters, I don’t have high hopes for a revival of a show that has to start from scratch. Could be good though, we’ll see

  10. Melissa says:

They need to finish the first series before they try to begin another one based on the first one…

  11. JethroP says:

Excellent show first season, then the writer’s strike happened and killed any attempts at making it successful….Looking forward to it…

  12. john says:

Nobody like Hero’s before it went off the air it was just ripping off X-men and not well. NBC needs to bring back a show that people actually liked like CHUCK !!!!!!

  13. Jeremy says:

Sure, give them a second chance at completely screwing it up.

  14. Don D says:

I’ll tune in! I liked the show, even though the last season was sub par.

  15. Tiffany says:

Feel like this means I have to finish watching the series- blech. I have hopes for this b/c Heros started out so strong, but I sopped watching. it got really dull

  16. Tia says:

I am excited to see another version of this series and hope it goes very well. I sat and watched all the seasons in DVD in a week

  17. Jackie says:

    I will like too see…

  18. michaelscott says:

Fuck yeah, amazeballs, bring it on!

  19. Darren says:

It felt like a soap opera for geeks. Dramatic plot twists, bad guys becoming good. Wasn’t there amnesia at some point?

  20. junior says:

think Sheldon Cooper hit it square in the pooper with it was a great show and it just got progressively worse! Everyone was glad it ended. still excite about t the show coming back with new cast and some extras from the old show.

  21. Jess Q. says:

When this show was airing it was my favorite thing on TV, but I ended up ditching it before it ended because it just got so damn bad, and now I can’t even remember the good stuff. I vaguely remember loving basically all of the original cast (but Hiro most of all), and none of the newer cast they brought in. So if this mini-series has mostly new people and not the original people, it’ll be a tough sell for me. But I’ll probably check it out when it airs just to see what it’s like.

  22. Chris Davis says:

Heroes was great till like the 3rd season.

  23. Peter Eng says:

This might work. As a miniseries, they won’t be doing the “Wheel Of Plots” routine to keep stretching it out. Something with a start-to-finish run has a chance of capturing the greatness of the first season of Heroes.

  24. George krause says:

I just pray we don’t have another writer’s strike to destroy this one too.

  25. Duff says:

Excited for anything Heroes. Can’t be worse than 95% of what is already on TV.

  26. RG says:

Of all the things to bring back… cripes.

  27. Kristoffer says:

Heroes first season was pretty good but devolved into awfulness quickly after. If they can reboot it and actually make it compelling i will watch it.

The crux of Heroes needs to be about the heroes themselves. It needs to be character driven and feature actual character progression.

  28. Kat says:

I believe the creator’s name was Tim Kring. Still stoked about the news though. =)

  29. Me. Capp says:

Dear god it was not good the first time around.

  30. charlie says:

    *Tim Kring

  31. Jeremy W. Fisher says:

Tom Kring? Tim. It’s TIM Kring!
