Music Geek Track of the Day: Star Wars Gangsta Rap Special Edition

So I am a little embarrassed to admit that somehow this Ebaumsworld-era Star Wars themed rap completely missed my radar when I was teenager. Not sure how or why it happened, but thank god I work where I do, because when this video came on over one of my coworker’s speakers earlier today, everyone in the room started singing along to Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader’s back and forth about trying to convert Luke to the Dark Side. At that moment, I felt like I had missed a seminal pre-viral, viral video and so I listened to it like ten times and decided it was imperative that I memorized a good portion of it.

As it stands, my favorite moment is an interlude and features Artoo as Luke’s personal barkeep in his little X-Wing nook. “That’s mighty good gin and tonic; would you mix me up another?” There is something so ludicrous about about that interstitial moment. Also I love that Vader’s big lyrical move during his rap battle with Luke is just, “I’m your father” over and over like 15 times. Though I am now deep into a wormhole of Star Wars rap videos, I am especially glad this came across my desk today.
