Music Geek Track of the Day: ‘Get Away” by CHVRCHES For BBC Radio 1’s New DRIVE Soundtrack

So BBC Radio 1‘s Zane Lowe is currently in the midst of a very uniquely difficult project: he has tapped several musicians to make a new soundtrack for Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, a movie with an already distinguished and emotive soundtrack with great songs by Kavinsky and College.

Lowe is currently compiling new music from The 1975, SBTRKT, Laura Mvula, Eric Prydz and CHVRCHES among many other acts, and he plans to broadcast the movie with his new soundtrack on BBC Three at 10pm (GMT I assume) on October 30. Going to be hard to beat the L.A. river scene with Carey Mulligan and Ryan Gosling cruising to “A Real Hero”, but given the vast array of talent that Lowe has pulled together, it could end up really impressing.

Below you’ll find “Get Away”, a new track from Scottish trio CHVRCHES, who are perfect pick for this project considering their bright-with-a-bite electronic music that they essentially mastered on their 2013 debut The Bones Of What You Beleive. They always have an emotional core to their tracks–often thanks to the Lauren Mayberry’s inflected, coruscating vocals–and “Get Away” is a pretty seamless extension of their sonic ecosystem plus a a very longing sounding vocal sample. Check the track below and let us know what you think of BBC Radio 1’s new project in the comments and on Twitter.

If this is the tip of the new soundtrack iceberg, I can’t wait to score a viewing (or at least a copy of the completed sndtrk to DIY this) here in the states.
