Music Geek Track of the Day: ‘Circles’ by Pujol

At this point in Daniel Pujol’s career, it is safe to say that he has earned his place as fixture among the Nashville underground garage/lo fi scene–a fecund scene that has boasted Jack Oblivian, Jay Reatard, Jack White, JEFF The Brotherhood, and Diarrhea Planet among many others. By virtue of sticking around, allowing a stream of new band members to help mold his sound, and working his ass off, Pujol has become one of the more identifiable artists in the scene.

“Circles,” the standout track from Pujol’s recent KLUDGE LP, is the kind of raucous power pop song that reminds you of that friend that you have that squeezes his toothpaste tube from the center instead of rolling it up responsibly, and throws all his laundry straight on the ground, dirty or not. There is a basic frenetic energy to this song that is refreshing for its visceral aptitude. Watch the video below to see Pujol get the green screen treatment and rock out with his reptile-masked friends.
