Thereâs a new generation of mutants joining the team in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is currently reigning at the box office. But what happens to the new recruits after theyâve settled into Xavierâs School for Gifted Youngsters?
MTV has posted a new parody video in which Josh Horowitz brings together Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Jubilee (Lana Condor) for a little group therapy. And letâs just say that none of them are exactly happy to be in their new home.
Fair warning: the language in this video is definitely NSFW at times, and the closing seconds may actually have the funniest part as Quicksilver reveals where heâs been hit by Cyclopsâ optic blasts. Although Quicksilverâs response to Cyclopsâ Avengers taunt is a close second.
However, we do have to point out that if this were in the â80s then they should have no idea who Anderson Cooper is. Thereâs also no reason that Storm should be complaining about Mystique walking around naked, since in the comics, Storm was the original âclothing optionalâ member of the team! And Jubilee may actually have more lines in this clip than she did in the movie.
In Marvelâs comic book universe, Jubilee is surprisingly stable for a former mutant turned vampire, and Stormâs only started talking to herself fairly recently. But Quicksilver and Cyclops could definitely use some therapy. Quicksilver has had some very famous exchanges with psychologist-to-the-superheroes, Doc Sampson. However, Quicksilver has also gone back and forth between heroism and villainy for decades. During some of those turns, he demonstrated extreme shifts in his personality and appeared to be unstable. That suggests that he has some deep rooted mental problems.
As for Cyclops, heâs never been the same since he murdered his mentor while possessed by the Phoenix force. Before his post-Secret Wars disappearance, Cyclopsâ behavior alienated most of the superhero community and left him as one of the most hated mutants on Earth. Now thatâs a guy who needs to refocus on his mental and emotional health if and when he resurfaces.
