Happy Friday, Morselers. Before we send you home for some well-deserved relaxation (after this especially horrifying week for us pop culture lovers), we’ve got a few last tidbits for your enjoyment and edification. Starting today’s group off is a pack of hilarious new posters for the upcoming Zoolander No. 2. Plus, the latest on Deadpool, Alien: Covenant, and more.
Zoolander No. 2
Blue Steel is back… Derek and Hansel are bringing their modeling magic to a plethora of new posters promoting Zoolander No. 2, done in the style of Chanel No. 5 perfume ads. Starring Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, and Christine Taylor, the long-awaited sequel arrives on February 12thâthe same day as Deadpool!
Deadpool
And speaking of the Merc with a Mouth… We’ve seen this movie get major meta in its marketing, but the film’s latest poster takes things to the next level by getting meta on the meta. (Meta squared!) Directly referencing its recent emoji ad, the Time Miller-directed Deadpool is now creating its own language to promote its February 12 release. Star Ryan Reynolds (a.k.a. Wade Wilson) once again breaks the news…

Alien: Covenant
After his Golden Globe win on Sunday night for The Martian, director Ridley Scott spoke briefly about his upcoming Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel, Alien: Covenant. The filmmaker promised its R rating will be well-deserved…
“I always remember walking down the edge in Saint Louis when we were previewing [Alien]. I couldnât sit through the film one more time. I walked down the edge into the kitchen scene when John Hurt started to bring up his breakfast. That moment, I realized how pretty scary the film was⦠I felt a sense of responsibility that I had gone too far because it was extreme. Iâm going to try and do that again this year, but much worse.”
Here’s the video of Scott’s remarks…
