Movie Morsels: THE IRON GIANT Returns to Theaters, THE HUNGER GAMES Motion Poster

Nerd Prom is upon us, my fellow nerd boys and nerd girls! And to celebrate Day 1 of this week’s glorious San Diego Comic-Con, in today’s Movie Morsels we’ve got some of the most exciting news we’ve heard so far this year: Brad Bird’s animated masterpiece The Iron Giant is returning to theaters! Plus, we have a handful of even more brand spanking new photos from Fox’s Deadpool, a new Comic-Con motion poster featuring Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 and exclusive trading card images from Sinister 2, and some of the best images we’ve seen yet of Batman and Superman as they will appear in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!

Deadpool

If Comic-Con is Christmas in July, then Entertainment Weekly is the parent who let’s you sneak a peek at presents. The magazine has just unveiled five new photos from director Tim Miller’s Deadpool highlighting the film’s supporting cast, including Morena Baccarin’s Copycat and T.J. Miller’s Weasel, as well as Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead in what looks, appropriately so for a young mutant, like a uniform from Xavier’s School for Gifted Young People. The Ryan Reynolds-starring film opens on February 12, 2016.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2

Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen takes center stage once more in a brand-new Comic-Con motion poster for the final Hunger Games film, Mockingjay — Part 2. Directed by Francis Lawrence, and co-starring Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Willow Shields, Natalie Dormer, Robert Knepper, Philip Seymour Hoffman (in, sadly, his final film role), and Donald Sutherland, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 opens in in 2D, 3D, RealD Cinema, and IMAX 3D on November 20.

The Iron Giant

Not a dream! Not a hoax! Brad Bird’s breakthrough film, and one of the finest cel-animated movies of the last several decades, will return to theaters this fall, remastered and enhanced, with two all-new scenes and titled The Iron Giant: Signature Edition. Fathom Events will host this limited engagement on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 PM, with an encore on Sunday, October 4 at 12 PM. Ticket on-sale date and theater locations will be announced in August on FathomEvents.com. Fingers crossed that the Blu-ray release we’ve been dreaming of follows!
