Movie Morsels: New SUICIDE SQUAD Clip Will Air at the MTV Movie Awards

Happy Monday, Morselers! Since April Fools’ Day fell on a Friday this year, and many of us had other things on our mind, today’s Movie Morsels has a couple of the better movie-related pranks/jokes/stunts you might have missed, including some from the new Ghostbusters and Finding Dory. Plus, we’ve got the latest from Suicide Squad, Warcraft, and more!

Suicide Squad

Wondering when you can get your next taste of Warner Bros’ upcoming Suicide Squad? Why, at this year’s MTV Movie Awards of course! On Sunday, April 10, hosts Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson will welcome the film’s stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (The Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), and Cara Delevingne (The Enchantress), as they introduce a never-before-seen clip…

The David Ayer-directed epic arrives on August 5 and co-stars Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, and Scott Eastwood.

Ghostbusters

I’ll admit I’m as tired as the next person of April Fools’ Day, but hey, at least some of this year’s pranks give film studios some motivation to get a little more creative in their marketing campaigns. Take Sony’s latest Ghostbusters video, for example. It’s a faux ad for an actual proton pack from the company. But what really makes it of interest to hardcore Ghostbusters fans is that it’s the first official video from Sony attempting to place the reboot within the same continuity/universe as the original film. Since this video claims the pack was developed by both the new Ghostbusters‘ Dr. Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) and the original’s Dr. Egon Spengler (the late great Harold Ramis). Very nice.

Finding Dory

In other April Fools’ pranks you might have missed… Pixar took the opportunity to offer proof that Hank, the “septopus” (seven-armed octopus) voiced by Ed O’Neill in Finding Dory, is the studio’s ultimate Easter egg, having been present in every one of Pixar’s animated films since the original Toy Story. Here’s Dory director Andrew Stanton and O’Neill revealing Hank’s heretofore secret history…

Warcraft

Not a prank! Not a hoax! Instead, a legit new TV spot for Duncan Jones’ long-in-development video game adaptation Warcraft, which explains why saving the world is most definitely not a one-man job…

Sharknado: The 4th Awakens

Sharknado

Finally today, something else that isn’t a prank, though I really wish it was… Those oh-so-mischievous makers of the Sharknado series are at it again. They’ve just announced that the fourth film in the inexplicably popular Asylum TV film franchise fill air on Syfy on Sunday, July 31 at 8PM ET/PT, with the title Sharknado: The 4th Awakens. Yeah, I’ll never stop groaning. Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, David Hasselhoff, Ryan Newman return, and are joined by newcomers Gary Busey, Tommy Davidson, Imani Hakim, Cody Linley, Masiela Lusha and Cheryl Tiegs.
