Star Wars: Episode VIII

The Force is indeed strong in this Monday… Some eagle-eyed fans have snapped a handful of photos of the Millennium Falcon as it appears in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII. And to whet our appetite further, these images also come with our first glimpse of a new space port/docking bay. What planets might the Falcon be visiting this time around? Will Luke journey to them along with Rey? And what’s with that giant gnarly-looking tree? Hmmm…

Maze Runner: The Death Cure
Maze Runner The initial forecast for star Dylan O’Brien’s recovery following injuries he suffered on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure was six weeks. But it appears O’Brien is taking a little longer to heal. Fox has cancelled the film’s February 17, 2017 release, and has not yet announced a new opening date. “The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries,” says the studio. “We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.”

The Martian
The Martian Who would have thought that being stranded on Mars and left for dead would be so hilarious? Andy Weir, that's who, and Ridley Scott too. The adaptation of the eponymous book stars Matt Damon as astronaut Mark Watney, a botanist who winds up abandoned on Mars when an emergency evacuation goes awry. What follows is the most thrilling story about growing potatoes ever told. As Watney sciences the shit out of his makeshift home on Mars and tries against impossible odds to survive on the red planet, we are treated to a tale of human ingenuity, intelligence, and indomitable will. All of this is peppered with a healthy dose of gallows humor and a burning disdain for disco music. Unlike most other science fiction films out there, science takes center stage in The Martian, and the (Read the review.) Finally today… We have word that the extended version of Ridley Scott’s The Martian, featured on the film’s Blu-ray release, will be a full 10 minutes longer than its theatrical cut. The usual extras also make it an enticing buy for fans of the Oscar-nominated science-fiction drama. Included are audio commentary by Scott, writer-producer Drew Goddard, and author Andy Weir, as well as deleted scenes, the documentary featurettes The Long Way Home: Making the Martian and Dare Mighty Things: NASA’s Journey to Mars, and a Journey to Mars 101 Q&A. The Martian hits home video on June 7.
